For me, wine is an expression of many different things. From the vineyard the fruit came from, the weather conditions of that particular vintage, the style of winemaking, even the fashion of winemaking on the day. Every single wine made tells a story. The story of the wine can only be revealed through careful, thoughtful examination of the liquid though every single one of your 5 senses.
As such, we will soon release the Harmans Regional Reserve Range. This is the range that captures beauty through the eyes of our winemaking team.
Keep your eyes, ears, nose, mouth and hands ready for these special wines.
As of today, we now house a new state of the art bottling facility. This improves the quality of the wines we produce, and saves the unnecessary transport of wine, which of course saves the environment.
The 2016 vintage was one of the most challenging I have experienced in my winemaking career. The 70mm of rain at the winery in January began an unusual chain of events in the viticultural region.
Most of these events were really positive, and time will be the only judge of the vintage, however I for one are claiming it as a test of precision viticulture and excellent grapes allow my winemaking team to create great wines.
Great wines are not made, they are a flow of quality vineyard management, favourable weather condition and of course clever thoughtful winemaking.
My highlights for the 2016 vintage will be the fine acidity in the white wines, amazing colour in the reds, in fact to sum it all up - balance. Almost every batch of wine we made this year shows life and balance. I'm excited.
